Happy Birthday Ryan!!
Amazing my 'baby' turned 7 today, he had a bit of a rocky debut, was my hardest pregnancy to date - but is the most empathetic little boy we know!

Ryan's Debut
Ryan Andrew Kenneth was born Wednesday October 31st at 3:40am. Tiny guy weighed 5 pounds 8 ounces and was 18 3/4 inches long. For weeks I had been seeing stars, dizzy and had some blood pressure issues - but the OB kept putting me off saying I had to "rest more!" October 30th I went to my OB app't and was sent to the hospital to be checked out because I had high blood pressure and more than a trace of protein in my urine. I was finally induced Tuesday night at 9pm, first by using some gel. I was only 1cm dialated, so we figured I was in for a long night. Throughout the labor, my blood pressure was up and down, and Ryan's heartrate was doing the same thing. I kept having to move around to get his heartrate back up. Around 11:30p, they told me that there was a C-Section about to start - so I asked for the epidural and got it right away. My contractions stopped, so they started me on pitocin at 1:30a, they broke my waters at around 2am and I had my epidural topped up at 2:30am. At 3:10am the nurse checked me, I was 9cms with a bit of a lip, so she said it would be about another hour and to get some sleep.
Fifteen minutes later, I had to urge to push so bad I was in tears, Gary ran and got the nurse who checked me and said the lip was still there, but that we could do a practice push with the next contraction. So, with the next contraction, I pushed and his head almost came out. She made me stop pushing, put my legs down and she and another nurse ran me down to delivery. The OB was next door stitching someone up, and I could hear them calling her saying if she wanted to deliver this baby she was needed right away. The OB had enough time to run in the delivery room, put on gloves I pushed twice, out he came! He was born blue, covered in meconium and had the umbilical cord wrapped twice around his neck. They did lots of suctioning, rubbing and moved him off into the isolette. He wasn't doing so well, the OB called for some backup and they rushed him off to the NICU where he spent a couple of days on oxygen and warming up! It was a long 5 hours before I could see my baby, while they got him settled in - I sent DH off home to get some sleep. When my Mom came in the morning, she wheeled me down to visit with him!! He was released a couple days later - it was nice to finally have him home!
