24 Week Appointment

Baby Dylan is measuring right on at 24 weeks, heart beat is 140BPM and my blood pressure is perfect! We discussed herbal teas and that fun stuff, EPO and getting things moving when it's close to time for his arrival. So now I see Carolynn at the end of January, and then start my bi-weekly appts and have my GTT test. Gary's started in on the office, stripping wallpaper and then we'll have to prime/paint and move the boys in there. Dylan's nursery will be next on our to-do list.

Merry Christmas Everyone!!!

We just wanted to send out a note to say Merry Christmas to all of our family and friends!!! I hope Santa was good to everyone. The boys were up at 6:30am and we held them off until 7am before we opened gifts - Kevin's thrilled with his GameCube and Ryan with his Workbench, now he's "just like Daddy" Gary hooked up the GameCube right away... I haven't seen Kevin since :o) Gary and I woke this morning to Ryan yelling "Merry Christmas Everybody" which didn't quite sound that clear but got the message across. I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday and a Happy New Year if we don't see you before the new year.

Hail to Stephanie, the Birthing goddess!!

am Woman, Hear me Roar - Steph A wonderful friend of mine Stephanie gave birth on Tuesday morning to a beautiful baby girl, Mairéad Isobel. The baby weighed in at 10lbs, 10oz and Steph did it all NATURALLY, no drugs, NADA!! Steph had a midwife (with some gentle prodding, and I hope she's glad with the choices she made!) and had a wonderful pregnancy under the guidance of a great Midwife. I think she was born 5 days late, like her big brother too! She's really an inspiration for me - if she can do 10lbs - I can push out a measly 5 or 6 pound runt without the need for drugs or intervention either. Now as time gets closer to Dylan's arrival, someone must remind me to come back and read this entry over and over

Braxton Hicks and snow shovelling

For a few weeks now, I've been having Braxton Hicks contractions, which are painless and totally normal beginning at 15 weeks or so. Yesterday I decided to be a hero and go out with the boys to shovel snow and ended up screwing up my back somehow :( In the process, my braxton hicks have also increased to once every few days to about one every few hours - a reminder about labor that I'm not looking forward to. Aside from baths and massage, my back isn't feeling much better - lets hope time heals it and fast!!!

20 week midwife visit

She was here for just over an hour. Everything looks good, normal blood pressure and no protein traces. The boys got to help take my blood pressure and helped with the doppler to hear the baby's heartbeat - they were both so thrilled that they got to hear their heartbeats little too! We went over my hospital records for both boys, Kevin's was uneventful, but Ryan's was just as horrible as I remembered. We found out today that with Ryan I went from 2/3 cms dilated at 12:15am, to being complete exactly 3 hours later - which scared us a little, here we thought it took a lot longer than that - maybe I'll get lucky and have a nice quick birth ;) I have to be sure to call her early in labor just in case things go much faster than planned. As his birth gets closer we'll definitely get some plans together as to what to do with the boys when it's time to transport. Kevin would still like to be there, but we'll decide when it's time - I'm not opposed to him bei...

Halfway there!!

Hard to believe I'm already on the downward side of the pregnancy (or so they say!) The first few weeks went by so slow... but everything is going faster and by the time the holidays are said and done, I'll be 25 weeks!!! I weighed myself tonight (first time this pregnancy actually, lol) and I'm up 12lbs - which kind of scares me because I gained 13lbs with Kevin, and 11lbs with Ryan - TOTAL! However this time I'm eating much better than I did in my previous pregnancies, so I guess he's just loving all the good food Mama's passing his way!! After much discussion, we decided on the name Dylan for the baby. It's nice to finally have a name, and the boys have given us the thumbs up too - I can't wait to put a face to a name :)
