Las Vegas 2012

We just got back from our Las Vegas 2012 trip. This year we flew direct to Vegas and then home connecting via Chicago which was a treat. Put it this way, direct next year no.matter.what.

We left for Vegas on March 10th in the morning. Our flight was at 8:50am, so we arrived at the airport about 6:30, waited quite a while to pay for luggage but customs and security was super quick. Arrived in Vegas to sunny warm weather, hopped in a cab and took the tunner/hwy to the Rio. The driver actually asked us, and since the Rio is on the other side of the hwy, I had no issue.

Our room wasn't ready so we checked our bags, headed to have lunch and came back after and our room was ready. Got a nice king room, mountain view. We spent the day wandering around, greeting friends, getting our grocery/liquor order. We mostly stayed at the Rio property until March 15th when we checked out of our room and moved over to the Aria for a night. Our new room was ready, we got settled, then decided to head out and check out the pool before going to lunch. We stopped in the arcade, mostly because hubby can't pass one without going in to see what it looks like.

We came across one of his fave games, where you cut a string and the prize drops and wouldn't you know - he won a 3DS for the kids! Win! Checked out Aria's pool area which was awesome, large, nice hot tubs - planned to come back later for a swim.

Took the monorail up to Bellagio and then walked over to the Cheesecake Factory for lunch. After that I went to sephora while DH went into the apple store and twisted his own arm to buy an iPad. Then he was so excited to get back to the room to set it all up, quick stop at Serendipity and back the way we came.

Did a little bit of gambling on our way back to the room, and then vegged for a little bit. Got changed, went for a little swim (wow had it cooled off) then went out and walked the strip for a little bit.

We had to leave at 4am for the airport, so at 11pm we ordered some room service and took a nap. The beds were sooooo comfy, the alarm went off what felt like minutes later - and off we headed to the airport.

Our flight was on time, landed in Chicago on time and that's where the fun began. Apparently, weather wasn't great in Toronto and there was a wildcat strike with the ground crew. We had a 2 hour delay in Chicago making our layover almost 4.5 hours. We were super tired when we landed in Toronto, vowing next time yep, direct! 14 hours worth of travel in one day.
